Who we are
The Amani Centre is a non-profit organization empowering and educating children and youth with physical and intellectual challenges.
Amani was started in the year 1992 at Chamwino, Morogoro, Tanzania as a centre to reach out to children with disabilities, the most abandoned and needy. It functions as a community-based organization and is serving, in particular, children with mental and physical disabilities.
Amani is operating as a charity through the provision of services such as education, a feeding programme, medical help to disabled children, the offer of physiotherapy and home visits to children and their families. While its major aim is self-sustainability, is also supported by overseas charities, such as Friends of Amani, Tanzania based in the UK.
